Ans. Communication means receiving or sending information between two or more than two persons. Communication can be one direction or both.
b. What do you mean by telecommunication? Give any 3 examples.
Ans. Interchanging the message such as text, audio, video, etc. through electronic media in the form of electric signals is called telecommunication. Newspaper, video chat, radio are the 3 examples.
c. What are the components of data communication?
Ans. The components are sender, receiver , protocol, data and medium.
d. what do you mean by modes of transmission?What are they?explain.
Ans. The direction of communication from sender to receiver and vice versa is called the modes of transmission. Its types are 1) simplex mode
Simplex mode communication is a mode of transmission in which data flows in only one direction only i.e. sender to receiver only. For eg; radio broadcasting, TV, etc.
2) Half Duplex mode
It is a mode of transmission in which data flows in both directions , but only in one direction at a time i.e. sender to receiver and vice versa but not at the same time. For eg walkie talkie 3)Full duplex mode : Full duplex communication is a mode of transmission in which data is both the directions simultaneously on the same channel i.e. sender to reciever and vice versa at the same time. for example video chat.
e. What do you mean by bandwidth? Explain their types.
Ans. Network bandwidth is the capacity of a wired or wireless network communications link to transmit the maximum amount of data from one point to another over a computer network or internet connection in a given amount of time usually per second. Its types are
1. Narrow band channel
It is used where data volume is relatively slow and which transmits data at a rate btwn 40 to 100 bits per second.
2. Voice band channel
– handle moderate data volume
– transmission rate is btwn 110 to 9600 bps.
3. Broadband channel
– high sped, high capacity transmission medium that carry signals from multiple independent network carriers.
f. What do you mean by computer network?
Ans. When 2 or more than 2 computers are interconnected to interchange the data and change the resources it is called computer network.
g. What are the types of computer network according to area coverage? What are they?
Ans. According to area coverage there are 3 types of computer network. They are Local Area Network (LAN) ,Metropolitan area network (MAN) , Wide Area Network (WAN).

ANS. There are 3 types of network architectures , they are peer to peer network , client server network and centralized network.

ANS. Communication media is the path through which communication data travel . Its types are guided media(wired media) and unguided media(unbounded media)

Ans. The wired media is called guided media. They are also called bounded media. Its types are

Ans. The function of NIC card are

Ans. Connector is a part of cable that plugs into a port or interface to connect one device to another. The types are RJ45(Registered Jack 45), BNC, ST, etc.
o. What is the full form of hub? ans. Hub is name of a device and has no full form.

Ans. A network topology is the physical arrangement, or patterns in which all nodes on a computer are connected together. There are many types of topologies such as bus topology, star, ring, three and mesh topologies.
